Event Description:

Program Topic: Meaningful Human Connection through Digital Marketing
When a business approaches digital media as a way of creating meaningful human connections rather than as an advertising and marketing space, they convert customers into friends, ambassadors, and partners committed to helping the business thrive.

We'll explore ways of interacting online, and take a look at a specific example of a LOCAL innovative online social interaction that resulted in nearly $1.1M social return on investment from March 2020-March 2021.

Take-aways:

  1. Far more people consume digital content than create it, so those who create content exert significant influence over those who consume it.
  2. Incentivize and equip people (customers, employees, vendors, fellow business owners, etc.) to create content about your business. Social media content from humans is more compelling than content from a business; content from people speaking in their own voice, sharing their own experiences is the most compelling.
  3. Focus on personal storytelling and interaction more than traditional marketing posts. Business owner vulnerability creates connection and understanding with existing and potential customers. It turns “customers” into “partners” with a personal stake in supporting the business.
